The awards, now in their fourth year, celebrate the TV channels and programmes that broadcast on Freesat, the free-to-air satellite platform, in a bid to showcase the breadth of choice the service offers.
ITV won two awards. Mid-morning magazine show 'This Morning' took home the Best Live TV Programme award and Ant & Dec, presenters of 'Britain’s Got Talent' and 'I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here', won Best TV Presenter.
Channel 4's 'Educating Essex' documentary of life in an Essex school won Best New TV Series, while 'The Million Pound Drop', fronted by Davina McCall, won the award for Best Digital Initiative.
The Breakout Channel of the Year award went to Channel 5's 5USA, which hosts American documentaries, games shows and dramas, including 'CSI: Crime Scene Investigation' and 'NCIS'.
The awards were presented by Greg Davies, Mr Gilbert in the ‘The Inbetweeners’, at a ceremony for 250 executives from TV and radio broadcasters and production companies at One Mayfair in central London last night.
Emma Scott, managing director, Freesat, said: "It’s been a truly outstanding year for British television and radio, and it is a real privilege to be able to recognise and celebrate the personalities, programmes and channels that Freesat viewers really love, including my personal favourite, Mr Drew on 'Educating Essex'."
