The programme is set to be the first on terrestrial television to conduct an interview for that length of time.
Campbell was last seen in the BBC Three documentary 'Come Home Gary Glitter?' with fellow presenter Joel Wilson. The pair tracked down the 70s glam star to his new home in Vietnam. The programme looked at what the now imprisoned Glitter had been up to during his time in South East Asia.
The programme will have no audience and no set, simply two chairs, two people and 24 hours for the presenter to ask the celebrity whatever he likes without a talent agency or publicist present.
Each 24-minute show will tell the story of 24 hours in the interview chair, with a digital clock at the bottom of the screen being the only indication of the shift in time.
Layla Sabih, ITV's controller of alternative programming, said: "This is a really exciting idea. It is the absolute opposite of a typical celebrity interview - no hype, just real chat and a chance to get to know a star.
"We're taking the essence of reality TV and merging it for the first time with the chat show genre. '24 Hours With...' is a much purer form of people watching. It's a fresh, simple and fascinating look at celebrities. We'd be delving deep into their personalities and would really get to see beyond the on-screen façade."
