ITV appoints former Asda chief Norman as chairman

LONDON - ITV has appointed former Asda chief executive Archie Norman as its non-executive chairman.

He will take up the role in January 2010, at which time Michael Grade will stand down from the company and John Cresswell will become interim chief executive.

Norman will be paid £300,000 per annum and has been allocated 1.2 million shares.

He has served as a Tory MP for eight years. He established and built Kingfisher plc in the 1980s. In 1991 he moved to ASDA to lead the turnaround as chief executive before selling it to Wal-Mart.
