Independent News & Media-backed mobile portal iTouch is launching a WAP service enabling users to enter their postcode to search for the nearest minicab office.
The 24-hour taxi service, 0800Taxi, gives contact details for around 15,500 cab offices nationwide.
So far, the service is being provided for free, in conjunction with an existing taxi directory service, also called 0800Taxi, but iTouch portal manager Alistair Harvey, said the portal would soon develop paid-for services.
'We're working towards a more personalised service for those on the move,' said Harvey.
