More than 130 viewers found the ad offensive, with 65 reporting significant reactions in children. After seeing the ad, some children experienced nightmares, fear of using baths or taps or the toilet alone, leading to bed-wetting.
The ITC was concerned about the effect on children and imposed a post-7.30pm restriction on the ads.
The ITC has ruled that Pot Noodle cannot use the word "slag in any of its advertisements after receiving 310 viewer complaints. It found the term was capable of causing great offence and ruled that it was not suitable for transmission at any time.
Odiorne Wilde Narraway + Partners' spot for EA Games' Medal of Honour received 40 complaints. Viewers complained that the ad, which began with newsreel footage of the D-Day landings, was insensitive to the memory of soldiers who had died.
The ITC said it understood why some viewers might find the theme tasteless, but did not uphold the complaints because the ad treated the subject with respect and did not demean the events of World War II.
