IPC Ignite!'s first marketing director, Vijay Solanki, is to leave
the company after just one year heading marketing for its men's and
music titles, including Loaded, Muzik and New Musical Express.
Solanki, who joined from Capital Radio where he was head of marketing,
is leaving by mutual consent. According to IPC Ignite! managing director
Mike Soutar, its marketing requirements and objectives have changed
during that time.
Over the past 12 months the men's and music markets have experienced a
torrid time that saw IPC close men's title Later and fold Melody Maker
into NME.
Loaded reported a 12% circulation drop year on year and a 13.1%
period-on-period decline to 305,444.
Solanki, who oversaw the rebranding from music and sport to Ignite!, is
to pursue consultancy in FMCG and media.
While IPC Ignite! will not appoint a new marketing director, his
responsibilities will be taken over by senior marketing manager Niall
McKinney, who is promoted to head of marketing. McKinney will report to
IPC group marketing director Philippa Brown, who will join the board of
IPC Ignite! to take overall responsibility for marketing.
