IPC appoints Emap Digital's Tim Brooks to director role

IPC Media has lured Emap Digital’s executive director, Tim Brooks, to IPC SouthBank, to replace the departing managing director, Colin Reeves-Smith.

Brooks, who was the managing director of Emap’s health network Esprit before his move to Digital, will report directly to Sly Bailey, IPC Media’s chief executive.

The departure of Reeves-Smith, at the end of October, will remove one of the last links to the Mike Matthew era at IPC. Since taking over the chief executive role from Matthew in December last year, Bailey has reorganised the company, allowing it to explore multimedia opportunities. She also raised IPC’s marketing efforts profile.

Bailey said: ’Tim is a journalist by background, managing director by experience and has spearheaded Emap’s digital developments. What more could I want from a new managing director?’

Brooks began his career in the trade press, and was one of the founding editors of Media Week. He moved to Australia with Maxwell Business Communications before joining Emap in 1991. ’I wasn’t looking to leave Emap, but I met Sly and she had a lot of good things to say about where she wanted to take IPC,’ Brooks said. ’I joined Emap’s digital division in the first place because I thought it was vital to get to grips with digital opportunities.’

Reeves-Smith will remain at Emap as a non-executive director of EML, IPC Media’s venture with Groupe Marie Claire.
