The shortlist, drawn up from 500 nominees, includes Robert Campbell and Mark Roalfe from Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/Y&R, Dave Droga from Saatchi & Saatchi and Russell Ramsay from Bartle Bogle Hegarty in the best creative director category. In the best creative team category, Tony Barry and Vince Squibb from Lowe are competing against, among others, Kim Gehrig and Caroline Pay from Mother.
Other categories include best director, best agency TV producer, typographer, photographer and illustrator.
Bruce Haines, the president of the IPA, said: "Although we already have an array of creative awards schemes that recognise 'best work', there isn't one that rounds up winners and then recognises the most consistently outstanding people. As the trade body for the whole business, it's appropriate that the IPA takes on the role of identifying and publicly recognising these creative stars and this is the idea behind the BOBs."
The judges will be chaired by the international feature film director Alan Parker and include John Hegarty, the chairman and worldwide creative director of Bartle Bogle Hegarty, Paul Briginshaw, the creative director of Miles Calcraft Briginshaw Duffy, and Andrew Coombe, the marketing director at Volkswagen.
