Savvy marketers wanting to use online to its best advantage for their companies could head to this year's Internet World.
The conference, now in its 15th year takes place at Earl's Court from 1-3 May. It is running alongside the International Direct Marketing Fair (IDMF) for the second year, following last year's successful tie-up. James Drake-Brockman, Internet World event director, says the partnership worked well and helped boost delegate numbers and quality. "This year, Internet World alone will almost double in size playing host to some 250 exhibitors. Combine this with the IDMF and you've got over 450 companies showcasing the very latest digital and traditional marketing solutions."
Visitor numbers last year were 8,580, a 55 per cent increase on the previous year. Organisers cite the co-location as a significant factor. When Revolution spoke to the event organisers, pre-registration was double what it was this time last year.
Marketers attending the event can expect to learn about the latest technologies, and be introduced to ways to successfully implement these for their business.
The exhibition is organised into dedicated zones for easy navigation. These will cover key topic areas in the digital arena, including search marketing, email marketing, e-commerce, hosting and managed services, content management, analytics, web 2.0, usability, mobile marketing, affiliate marketing and online advertising. This year, each area will also have a dedicated page on the web site to help attendees plan their time at the show. These pages will include a buyer's guide, relevant seminars and a list of relevant exhibitors.
Delegates are invited to attend a comprehensive line-up of seminars. This year, these will include a wide choice of case studies, with speakers sharing their brands' digital experiences. These promise to be highly targeted, and include confirmed speakers from companies such as Hilton, Canon, Nestle, John Lewis, Hotel Chocolat and Coors. The Internet World Keynote programme includes the likes of Channel 4's Rod Henwood talking about video on demand, Porsche's marketing director, Geoff Turrell who will look at the automotive industry and the online challenges for a luxury brand, UK sales director of Google, Mark Howe, on how brands can engage on the changing internet and Ikea marketing manager Claudia Struzzo revealing her take on digital brands in the 21st century.
As 'web 2.0' continues to creep up marketers' digital agenda, delegates can expect to hear more about how to implement it successfully at the 'web 2.0 experience'. This major show feature will include one-on-one advice clinics to address their specific challenges, roundtables, a seminar theatre and individual showcases.
New for 2007 is the 'Brands Reignited' conference which runs over the three days and will consist of panel discussions addressing the key, consumer-driven challenges in the digital age. The conference is an opportunity to meet and discuss issues, as well as network and develop new partnerships. It has been designed for brand strategists, digital agencies and media planners to understand the latest developments in digital marketing. Issues covered will include how agencies are affected by the changing digital landscape, what web 2.0 means to brands, the relationship between paid for and organic search, mobile marketing, viral marketing, in-game advertising and the effect that IPTV will have on broadcast.
Panellists include leading thinkers from brands, agencies and publishers including MTV, O2, EMI, Motorola, P&G, British Gas, Profero, Agency.com, Saatchi & Saatchi, LBi, Modem Media, Dare, Glue, AMV BBDO, BskyB, The Sun, BBC and Bebo.
