Guardian.co.uk/music will cover all genres of music, featuring daily music news, weekly reviews, interviews, a what's on guide and regular competitions.
The music channel will be promoted online and in the paper, and is part of an expansion of Guardian Unlimited's arts coverage. This includes the launch of a new arts and entertainment blog, a site dedicated to art and architecture, and increased coverage of theatre, visual arts, film and books.
Emily Bell, Guardian News and Media's director of digital content, said: "The scale of our sponsorship with Intel is a media first for us. Obviously we will retain editorial independence, but we will work with Intel to integrate its brand into the site on a number of different levels and at the same time offer added value to our users."
Universal McCann Interactive negotiated the six-month deal on behalf of Intel to promote the launch of a new processor.
The site will carry a sponsorship credit on each page and feature a branded microsite focusing on technology and music, which will show users how to create and edit their own music videos.
A weekly "ask the expert" section will respond to users' queries on digital entertainment and the site will also include a "users' guide" to how to buy the correct technical specification for home use.
