Insiders' guide - Think Publishing sales

Number of people in your team?

Eleven.

Who does what?

Caroline McLoughlin is head of sales and Leona Sutton is second in command. The troops work across 15 titles: Adam Casey, Victor Georgiades and Tom Fountain sell display; Lee McLoughlin, Caroline Grogan and Jenny Edwards sell semi-display and classified; Adam Lloyds sells online and display; Jessamy Duguid works in business development, and Monika Wika is the sales team administrator.

Who is the biggest character in the office and why?

Difficult question to answer: Victor for his bullishness and Jenny for her wit and wisdom, but ultimately it has to be Tom for his amazing sales ability and dance moves when we are out on the town.

What is the atmosphere in the office like?

Very fun, friendly, dynamic and busy, but never out of control. We all support each other and if anyone needs help they just ask and everyone shouts something back to help - except at 5.20pm on a Friday, when all you can hear is the chirpy tones of Lil' Chris's Checking Me Out to announce the weekend is upon us.

What stands you apart from the rest of the industry?

We are the UK's leading environ-mental contract publisher, with 18 different titles. This makes us the experts in our field. Companies nowadays claim to do their bit for the environment, but our office really does; each department has a representative for the Think Publishing "green team". They teach the rest of us how to be more environmentally friendly in and out of the office. Our clients are mainly charities trying to raise their awareness and we take our part in that role very seriously. So when we speak to new clients and business, it's not just an opportunity to make money, it's us showing our support and trying to help.

What does it take to get a job in your team?

It's all about personality. You spend most of your day with work colleagues, so it's important they are good people with the right mix of characters and opinions. You don't just join a team here, you join a group of friends who trust each other and choose to be together outside of work, not just from 9am to 5.30pm.

How are staff encouraged to hit targets?

Really bad basic wages and whips. Only joking. To ensure every target is hit, we try to have some fun by playing games for cash. It wouldn't be unusual to see us playing sales bingo or giving out poker chips for the auction we hold on Fridays. However, we do all have personal targets to hit every month.

Where do you all let your hair down?

Our local is the Earl Percy in Ladbroke Grove. We go so regularly that on our last venture there, we were shocked to find a whole section reserved just for us. The bar staff informed us: "We knew you'd be in tonight."
