Insiders' Guide: Folder Media

We're a small team at Folder Media and our job is to look after websites and social media for stations such as NME Radio and Jazz FM. We also manage UTV's digital radio multiplexes, provide radio and new media consultancy and run the children's radio station Fun Kids.

Who is the team leader?
Gregory Watson is the boss, although we're big fans of "managing up", so we mainly make him do the rubbish jobs.

What's in your in-tray?
There are always updates from presenters and stations so we can keep their online environments up to date. But at the moment we're very excited about the RadioVIS scheme: rolling out pictures to accompany radio stations' broadcasts on new DAB radios, as well as the iPhone. We're also working hard to build Fun Kids and we have just had our highest RAJAR figures, so we have been celebrating.

Where do you get inspiration from?
We like big ideas and companies that strike out and do their own thing. We believe Absolute Radio's CompareMyRadio.com is a great example of challenging the status quo.

Media we can't live without?
We do a lot of social media work, so Twitter and Facebook are vital and Google Reader is full of feeds to keep an eye on. And Spotify is great for playlist meetings for Fun Kids.

Preferred lunching venues?

We're lucky to be based in Shoreditch, so there are plenty of places to eat out. The Hoxton Pony, Bar Music Hall and The Strongroom are good and there is Shoreditch House if you're important.

Most memorable night out?
Taking the Fun Kids team out to a panto with drinks before and after. Let's just say everyone was happy to join in with the audience participation.

Advice to graduates?
Be good. Be really good. Radio is a key focus for us, but you must have good web skills, be able to edit video and be aware of what's going on in the media world.

If we ruled the world...
Fun Kids would be the number one station in London and the office would have a sea view.
