Ink to publish Russian air title

LONDON - Russian low-budget airline Sky Express has appointed Ink Publishing to produce its new in-flight title, Express Magazine.

Ink Publishing won the brief in a competitive pitch against one undisclosed agency.

Express Magazine is the airline's first in-flight magazine and its debut issue will be available on Sky Express next month. The airline said the magazine will reach more than four million passengers travelling within Russia by its 10th issue.

Sky Express, which claims to be Russia's first low-cost carrier, established itself in January 2007 with flights from Moscow to the Black Sea resort city of Sochi. It has subsequently expanded with new routes to places including Saint Petersburg.

Ink Publishing claims to publish more in-flight magazines than any other company worldwide. Its clients include Air Macau, AirTran Airways, Bangkok Airways, bmi, Brussels Airlines, Gulf Air and easyJet.

Earlier this month, rail operator Virgin Trains appointed Ink to produce its relaunched magazine, Hotline, which was previously produced by rival River Publishing.

Ink Publishing won the brief following a competitive pitch for the business, though it is unclear whether River was involved.
