Novero, formed last year after a management buyout of Nokia's automotive products division, currently provides built-in car phones and hands-free devices for automotive brands including Volkswagen, Land Rover and Ford.
Now the company, which wants to launch a separate consumer brand, has hired branding agency Goosebumps to create a consumer proposition to launch in Europe and the US in the summer.
The products will be aimed at a perceived niche in the market for premium hands-free telephony products. It is understood that Novero is looking to create a range of products that do not share the traditional appearance of hands-free devices. Future items are set to include pieces of jewellery, such as brooches, which will double-up as tele-phony gadgets.
The technology company has hired McCann Erickson Dusseldorf to handle its global ad account with a brief to drive consumer awareness. The activity will be shared among the McCann World-group agencies.
Novero will preview its consumer brand and products at this month's GSMA World Mobile Congress in Barcelona.
Nokia announced its intention to sell its automotive division in January 2008 as part of plans to close its German manufacturing plants. The buyout saved 400 jobs at the division.
