ICSTIS imposes record six-figure fine for misleading Richard and Judy competition

LONDON - ICSTIS, the premium rate services regulator, has imposed its highest ever fine of £150,000 on Eckoh UK, the service provider on the You Say, We Pay competition formerly featured on the Richard and Judy show.

It has also ordered the company to refund to all those affected, although this is suspended while ICSTIC considers whether the proposed refund scheme meets its requirements.

The sanctions have been imposed after ICSTIS ruled that the competition, featured on the Channel 4 programme, seriously misled viewers by actively encouraging them to enter the competition after the potential winners had already been selected.

ICSTIS is now referring the case to Ofcom.
