VCCP will run a consortium of agencies composed of Rees Bradley Hepburn, appointed to its dealer marketing account last month, Carlson Marketing, which has the direct marketing business, and Oakwood dc, hired as Hyundai's design agency.
VCCP won a head-to-head shoot-out against Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO to win the above-the-line business, which is worth £12 million. Leagas Delaney, the incumbent of ten years, Atlas and Banks Hoggins O'Shea/FCB were knocked out of the pitch after the preliminary rounds.
Despite seeing its UK sales rise 9.53 per cent in the year to the end of October 2003 and reaching an all-time high with 32,238 sales, Hyundai is now looking to revamp its image.
Jim Campbell, the Hyundai marketing director, said: "We chose VCCP after a very detailed and rigorous selection process. It won because of its overall creativity and its close cultural fit with the team here at Hyundai." Campbell has been responsible for appointing the new consortium over the past six months.
VCCP's first creative work is expected in the summer.
