Honda shuffles UK bikes team

Honda Motorcycles has restructured its marketing department and promoted former supply-chain manager Simon Gardiner to lead a marketing operations team.

As part of the rejig, direct marketing executive Glen MacMahon has been promoted to marketing programmes manager.

The changes follow the appointment of Steve Martindale as Honda Motorcycles general manager in April.

Earlier this year, the company promoted its head of aftersales, Tom Gardner, to the role of marketing director after the departure of Jeff Dodds, who became European marketing director at Callaway Golf.

Honda is the world's biggest motorcycle manufacturer. Sales of motorcycles in the UK rose by 4.7% in June 2007, according to the Motor Cycle Industry Association. Motorbike registrations between January and June were up by 8%, compared with an increase of 1.5% in car registrations.
