Honda develops green initiative

Honda is to combat consumer concerns about pollution from cars with a tree-planting scheme.

The car giant has linked with environmental company Future Forests to manage the initiative, which is intended to neutralise carbon emissions.

Consumers who buy a new Honda from 1 September will receive a Tree-Tube containing advice on carbon-neutral driving. They will be encouraged to buy into the scheme for £8 a month.

The tie-up will be promoted through the car firm's dealership network.

Future Forests has planted 44,000 trees across the country on behalf of Honda. It has similar deals with Avis, Mazda and Volvo.
