ITV1's Sunday evening drama was once again a hit with viewers, with Back Home, starring Sarah Lancashire, beating BBC1's peaktime offerings. The drama, which centred around Lancashire's character adjusting to life after the Second World War, pulled 9.6 million viewers, an impressive 38% share, between 8pm and 10pm. BBC1's drama Down To Earth, shown at 8pm on the same night, pulled 6.3 million viewers, a 25% share. A repeat of Silent Witness on BBC1 at 9pm managed to attract just 4.5 million viewers. Last Friday, 4.9 million viewers, a 23% share, watched Top of the Pops Goes Large - a BBC1 60-minute special, shown between 7pm and 8pm. ITV's biographical documentary The Elton John Story, shown at 10pm last Friday, performed poorly, just five million viewers tuned in to watch the Rocket Man. A new series of The Naked Chef started on Tuesday, October 16, at 8.30pm. Jamie Oliver pulled 2.6 million fans, a 10.8% share.
Channel 5's documentaries are going down well with viewers. The Tutankhamun Conspiracy, shown last Tuesday at 8pm, attracted 1.7 million, a 7.2% share.
C5's Tuesday night movie also did well. Conspiracy Theory, starring Mel Gibson and Julia Roberts, at 9pm, hooked 2.4 million, a 14.1% share.
BBC1 did well with This Is Your Life, shown at 7.30pm, on Wednesday, October 17, pulling seven million, a 33% share.
Skinny Women, Channel 4's "cheery" documentary about anorexic and bulimic women, pulled 2.5 million, a 10.3% share, at 9pm, on Wednesday, October 17.
Vicky Entwistle: Star Lives, got the thumbs up from viewers,
8.7 million, a 38.1% share, tuned in to watch the Corrie star talk about her life, on Thursday, October 18, at 8.30pm on ITV1.
ITV1's pretender to the chat show king crown, The Frank Skinner Show, is no match for Parky. Last Saturday at 9.25pm, only 6.1 million, a 29.3% share watched the Brummie funnyman grill his guests.
In contrast, Parkinson, at 10.05pm on the same night, was watched by 7.8 million, a 41% share.
