The pitch was handled by director of trading, Phil Geary, and follows the health food and supplements retailer dropping WCRS last month.

Geary said that BIG has been given the immediate brief to complete a TV campaign which will feature the celebrity Gethin Jones, who has co-presented Blue Peter and also appeared on Strictly Come Dancing. The campaign is set to launch in mid October.

Geary said that marketing activity would continue to have a price-led focus. ‘There will also be an added focus on promotions on branded items to add further credibility to the campaigns,' he said.

WCRS had been appointed to the account in April 2008 and rolled out an ad campaign featuring the characters Mr Holland and Mr Barrett. Geary however announced earlier this year the retailer was dropping the characters in favour of a return to price-led advertising.
