
Hinton, who left News International in December 2007 as part of a shake-up at News Corporation and became chief executive of Dow Jones & Company, will give evidence at 2.30pm next Tuesday (15 September).
The inquiry by the Commons culture, media and sport select committee was reopened in July, after it emerged that News International was alleged to have paid about £1m in damages to individuals to settle legal cases over alleged illegal phone-tapping by some of its journalists.
The committee has already received statements from Andy Coulson, the former News of the World editor.
