Price, who also gives up his position on the Chime board, is not to be replaced. He joined Chime five years ago from HHCL, where he was finance director and looked after acquisitions at the group. Price will continue as a consultant to the company. He leaves on June 12.
Price said: "After 10 exciting years in the building of HHCL, followed by five years broadening my corporate experience within the Chime Communications Group, I feel that the time has come to move on and look for new challenges."
Price, a chartered accountant, helped found Howell Henry Chaldecott Lury in 1987 along with Rupert Howell, Steve Henry, Adam Lury and Axel Chaldecott, as a silent partner responsible for finance, legal and commercial affairs. He joined from Frontline Television Group where he became managing director having joined in 1983.
He became an executive director of Chime following its merger with the HHCL Group in 1997. Lord Bell, chairman of Chime, said: "We would like to thank Robin for his hard work and services to the company over the last five years and wish him every success in the future."
Price was widely seen as embodying the changing role of agency financial director. Within agencies it is a role that has taken on a more business-like attitude over the past 20 years, with the best top agency teams including a financial director with vision.
