The Grade II listed Art Deco venue will play host to the one-day festival on 14 September, which celebrates 20th century creativity from music, fashion, film, art and design and food.

The hotel, its car park and the surrounding landscape will be transformed for the event, which will accommodate such entertainment as live dance bands, gramophone DJs, fashion and furnishings in a vintage marketplace, hair and beauty salons, and fashion, art and design workshops.

Matt Stanaway, general manager at The Midland, said: "This year is a very special year for The Midland and it is great that Wayne Hemingway is returning to his roots and recognising how special the building is by bringing his Vintage event to the hotel.

"Vintage Hemingway pays very close attention to detail to ensure the authenticity of their celebrations and know how to put on a party. I’m sure that this event will live long in the memory of The Midland and Morecambe and will be a very special way to help mark the building’s anniversary."

Vintage Festivals, which launched in 2007, have held events on London’s South Bank, in Sussex and at last year’s Preston Guild.

For the 14 September festival, vintage-themed gala dinner and entertainment packages are being offered, as well as tickets for a Torch Club Ball.

Wayne Hemingway said: "The Midland is a very special building – a truly unique design and iconic British building. It feels right and proper for us to bring a pop-up version of our Vintage Festival to my hometown to celebrate The Midland’s landmark year and put on a wonderful party that encompasses the best of British design, music, fashion and art, and food."
