Slade, who is the girlfriend of England and Arsenal footballer Theo Walcott, was selected following her strong association with both the fashion and sports arena, according to Helly Hansen. Melanie first rose to fame when Walcott was chosen to join the England team for the FIFA World Cup in Germany in 2006. Following her A-Level studies, Slade took a year out to support the charities Global Angels and ‘Treehouse' undertaking charity races, and climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.

The Norweigan company specialises in sailing apparel and footwear with products distributed in more than 40 countries.
Slade is currently studying Physiotherapy at university.
