Hello! enhances online service with searchable news archive

Hello! magazine has improved its online subscription offering with the launch of a searchable news archive.

Users will be able to search through all news stories that have appeared on the free-access site since it was launched in April 2001.

The new service is only available to members of the site's Diamond Club. Searches can be made by personality or subject.

While only news stories are searchable at present, the site aims to extend the archive to include Diamond Club content.

Members of the club pay £19.99 for six months' access, or £4.99 for one month, to exclusive content including video-clips, features and content from Hello!'s printed publication. Payment is via BT click&buy.

"We value the loyalty of our online readers, and we haven't taken anything away from the popular free site or started charging for items that were previously free," said Tree Elven, web site editor at Hello!.

Hellomagazine.com attracted more than 10 million page impressions in June 2003, according to ABC Electronic, showing an 23 per cent increase on its audit for March of this year. The company recorded more than 1.5 million visits to the web site in the month of June.
