- Disney subsidiary Miramax Films and Hearst Magazines have signed a joint-venture agreement to publish Talk magazine, the monthly publication being launched by former New Yorker editor Tina Brown and former Vogue publisher Ronald Galotti.

With an August launch date planned, Talk is set to be a direct rival to Condé Nast's Vanity Fair, the magazine Brown edited before going to the New Yorker, and will have an initial target circulation of 500,000.

The deal sees Hearst Magazines taking a 50% stake in the joint venture and assuming responsibility for circulation and printing. Talk Media, the publisher of Talk, will run the editorial, advertising sales and marketing functions.

Talk is the latest in a series of deals between Hearst and Disney, including Hearst-Argyle Television, which is the largest affiliate group of the Disney-owned ABC Television Network.
