HBOS holds pitch for creative Bank of Scotland task

HBOS, the bank formed from the merger of Halifax and Bank of Scotland, is holding a pitch for the above-the-line creative account for Bank of Scotland.

The Scottish bank is not known as a major advertiser, but Philip Hanson, head of marketing for the retail division of HBOS, plans to revamp the brand and raise the profile of its advertising.

McCann-Erickson Manchester, the Union and Delaney Lund Knox Warren have been invited to pitch for the business, worth up to £5m. All the agencies are on the HBOS roster. The Union handles ads for Halifax's Intelligent Finance, and Delaney Lund Knox Warren holds the Halifax account. McCann-Erickson Manchester was appointed by Bank of Scotland earlier this year.

James Boulton, head of brand marketing and retail sales at HBOS, said: "We are delighted with the results for the Halifax brand and the work DLKW has done. We need to capitalise on this with a campaign for Bank of Scotland."
