Havas offers no comment on Euro RSCG chief Heekin's departure

LONDON – Havas has refused to comment on reports that Jim Heekin, the chief executive of Euro RSCG Worldwide, is leaving the network after he was linked to the top job at Grey Global.

Heekin is on holiday with his family this week and is unavailable for comment, according to Euro RSCG Worldwide.

Reports have suggested that WPP Group has been trying to lure Heekin to succeed Ed Meyer as chief executive at Grey Global Group, and that a deal could be done within two weeks. WPP would not comment on the reports.

Brand Republic reported on that Heekin was being targeted by WPP to succeed the 78-year-old Meyer.

Heekin was recently overlooked for a place in Havas' new management line-up, put in place after the network failed to bring in TBWA\Worldwide's Jean-Marie Dru as chief executive.

Approaching his third year at Euro RSCG, Heekin is reported to have been talking to Sir Martin Sorrell and Ed Meyer during the last two months.

He was made Euro RSCG Worldwide chief executive in January 2004, after joining as president and chief operating officer in October 2003.
