Havas' de Pouzilhac writes to discover Bollore intentions

PARIS - Havas chief executive Alain de Pouzilhac is sending a letter to French corporate raider Vincent Bollore today, asking him to clarify his intentions for the company.

De Pouzilhac is writing on behalf of the board of Havas to address questions that were raised at a board meeting last week. Bollore is now Havas' biggest single shareholder, owning 20% of the company's shares through various businesses.

At a media conference today, De Pouzilhac said: "Is he a raider? Does he want to make a profit by taking the business apart or is he an industry player who wants to follow the strategy?"

Bollore said in October that he did not intend taking over Havas in the immediate future, but has remained silent on his intentions since then.

He has requested representation on the board of the company, which owns the ad agency Euro RSCG, a request that the board says is legitimate. However, it is awaiting clarification on Bollore's intentions before it grants the request.

De Pouzilhac was speaking at a conference organised by the French business newspaper Les Echos in Paris today.
