Harvey Nichols unveils DDB campaign

Harvey Nichols is looking to drive traffic to its food and menswear departments with a press campaign created by DDB London.

The ads are the latest installment in the "HN on earth" brand campaign for the store, introduced by DDB at the beginning of the summer.

Launching on Friday, the visually surreal "menswear" execution shows Trojan warriors fighting with handbags and two men wrestling.

In "restaurants and foodmarkets" a semi-naked Adam and Eve are surrounded by a strange cast of characters including cross-dressing cowboys and a leopard fighting a crocodile over a sugar mouse.

The photography captures the vibrant colours both of the clothes and the food in a style that links all the executions under the concept of heaven and earth in-store. The endline remains: "HN on earth."

The campaign will break in national newspaper supplements on 10 September and will appear in both October and November issues of consumer fashion titles.

The ads were written by Patrick McClelland and art directed by Grant Parker. The photographer was Tim Bret-Day. Media planning and buying for the campaign was developed by Rocket.

Julia Bowe, the marketing director for Harvey Nichols, said: "The campaign confirms our iconic position as the UK's leading fashion store and brings the Harvey Nichols brand experience to life. The ads excite the senses of those who love being tempted, those who love to indulge and those devoted to fashion."
