Hachette selects publishing head for teenage titles

Hachette Filipacchi (UK) has appointed Lysanne Currie head of publishing for its teen magazines, Sugar, ELLEgirl and tvhits!. She will be responsible for all editorial, publishing and marketing activities.

Ad director Helen Brocklebank, Sugar and ELLEgirl group marketing manager Faith Hill and tvhits! product manager Amanda Fry will all report to Currie, as will the magazines' editors.

Formerly editorial director for the teen portfolio, Currie oversaw the German launch of Sugar in 1997. She now reports directly to chairman Kevin Hand, who has taken over chief executive responsibilities following the departure of managing director Vivien Cotterill. The group still wants to recruit a marketing director.

At the top of Currie's agenda will be the rejuvenation of Hachette's market-leading teen title, Sugar, which suffered a 16.6% decline in its ABC sales last year.

Another priority will be to increase ELLEgirl's frequency from quarterly to monthly.
