GWR signs radio station carriage deal with Telewest

LONDON - GWR Group has signed a carriage deal for its flagship radio station Classic FM and its three digital radio brands, Core, The Storm and Planet Rock, on Telewest Broadband.

The deal sees the radio stations available to more than 8m homes via cable and satellite, as well as DAB, and in Classic FM's case, analogue radio.

Pop music station Core and traditional rock station Planet Rock are already available on national digital radio, which, according to last week's Rajars, is now listened to by more than 7.5m people.

Modern rock station The Storm, is available across nine UK cities including London, Bristol and Coventry.

Simon Ward, GWR Group new media and digital director, said: "Given that our aim is to connect our brands to consumers in all ways that appeal to them, this makes perfect sense and will only increase the availability of our brands, audience reach and audience share."
