Guinness Brewing’s marketing controller for ales, Jason Nicholas,
is to leave the company at the end of September to pursue other
interests.
Last year, Nicholas was responsible for relaunching Kaliber, its
alcohol-free beer, which has endured a struggling market.
Under Nicholas, the beer was given new packaging and a new formula. He
was also responsible for relaunching Harp Irish Lager.
Earlier in 1996, Nicholas was behind Euro RSCG’s ad campaign to support
Kilkenny Irish Ale in Guinness’s bid to grab a bigger share of the
hybrid ale sector.
During his nine years at Guinness, Nicholas was also responsible for
managing Draught Guinness, which is currently enjoying its highest ever
volume and market share.
Guinness Brewing’s marketing director, Julian Spooner, said: ’Jason has
made a great contribution to the business, but after so long with the
same company we understand his desire to move on.’
Nicholas was not available for comment on his future plans.
Earlier this month it was reported that Guinness Brewing GB had carried
out an internal review of strategy across all its brands.
The review is understood to have raised questions about several brands,
including Guinness Bitter in cans.
