Guardian takes 27% stake in Delicious publisher Seven

LONDON - Guardian Media Group has taken a significant minority stake in consumer magazine company Seven Publishing, which publishes food magazine Delicious.

GMG has taken a 27% stake and is now the single largest shareholder in the company, which was established in June last year.

It launched Australian food magazine Delicious in the UK in December, with support from Jamie Oliver and other celebrity chefs including Rick Stein and Gordon Ramsay.

The title became market leader in its home market of Australia, where it was voted magazine of the year in 2003. Seven has confirmed it is now gearing up for another magazine launch, to be announced soon.

The group is run by an established media team including managing director Seamus Geoghegan, former director of BBC Worldwide, and chairman Michael Potter, founder of Redwood Publishing.

As well as publishing The Guardian and The Observer newspapers, GMG owns magazine publisher Trader Media Group, five radio stations including Jazz FM, and the Manchester Evening News.
