The full findings of the inquiry will be presented today (16 Dec) by Nick de Bois MP, chair of the APPG for events and the inquiry, at De Vere Venues Altitude in Millbank Tower, London.
The report found the majority of evidence given from within the industry was not asking for financial support for the sector, but the "reduction of interventions that decrease its international competitiveness".
It also details how the industry operates in silos and "a more coherent industry effort" is needed.
Today’s event will include a panel discussion featuring industry representatives. Richard Foulkes, who operates his own company The Paradise Experiment, will act as moderator, while de Bois will be joined by Julian Agostini of Confex; Tracy Halliwell from London & Partners; VisitScotland’s Neil Brownlee; and Caroline Mackenzie of Contendam.
