Green spurns Nectar proposal for Arcadia and BHS

LONDON - Arcadia and BHS boss Philip Green is reported to have spurned attempts by loyalty programme Nectar to get the clothing retail groups signed up to the scheme.

Nectar operator Loyalty Management UK is believed to be keen to get a clothing chain on board to help it achieve its target of attracting half of all UK households to the scheme by September. At present it claims to have 11m members.

Signing up Arcadia and BHS would have given the scheme access to retail brands including Miss Selfridge, Top Man and flagship brand Top Shop. Department store Debenhams is the only clothing brand signed up to Nectar so far.

According to the Sunday Times, Green does not feel a loyalty card scheme would benefit his businesses.

Nectar aims to sign up one major brand from each industry. So far its eight sponsors include BP, Barclaycard, Ford and off-licence chain Thresher.
