Up to 8,000 competitors and spectators are expected to attend the opening event on 4 October, with details for the closing ceremony still under wraps.

Both events are set to be "spectacular shows" showcasing some of the UK’s most talented young performers and celebrating the coming-together of communities from around the world.

The WorldSkills show is the largest international skills competition in the world and will make use of "every available square metre" at Excel London from 5-8 October –

Young people from across the globe will gather to compete against each other to become the best of the best in their chosen field, be it electronics, floristry, cabinet making or a multitude of others.

Grass Roots event production division managing director Charles Moyle said: "We have had a great 2011 to date, with a number of new live production wins and are delighted that WorldSkills has commissioned us to design and deliver the opening and closing ceremonies at one of the biggest events in London ahead of the 2012 Olympic Games. Our team is passionate about creating exceptional experiences coupled with flawless execution."
