Granada signs Mini sponsorship deal for new ITV drama

LONDON - Mini is following up its sponsorship of ITV's hit comedy drama 'Cold Feet' with a £600,000 deal to sponsor a new series called 'Between the Sheets'.

The sponsorship package, negotiated between Granada Enterprises and Vizeum, formerly BBJ, includes standard breaks and bumpers around each episode of the series, which will air in the autumn.

Mini's ad agency WCRS is currently working on new creative for the spots, which will continue the theme of the Mini drama that runs throughout its above-the-line advertising.

Leigh Moscrip, sponsorship executive at Granada Enterprises, said: "We are delighted that Mini is continuing its association with comedy drama on ITV1 and we are looking forward to seeing the next instalment of the Mini drama theme."

Mini first sponsored 'Cold Feet''s fourth series in 2001 and renewed the deal for the fifth and final series last year. The £1m deal included sponsorship of the 'Cold Feet' website, however, no website has been planned for the 'Between the Sheets'.

The series is described as a frank exploration of sex in the 21st century. It has been written by Kay Mellor, creator of the BBC's hit football drama 'Playing the Field' and ITV's 'Fat Friends' and executive produced by former ITV director of programmes David Liddiment.

Its cast includes critically acclaimed UK actors Brenda Blethyn, Alun Armstrong and Julie Graham.

Emma Lowndes, Mini marketing manager, said: "This is going to be a great series. Mini is delighted to be associated with it."
