A rush of B-list US celebrities can be expected any day, as America gets its chances to watch celebrities behaving badly. Pamela Anderson is already being mentioned as one of the possible stars of the show, with Mike Tyson as another name being mentioned.
According to a spokesman for Granada's London Weekend Television, which made the show, a deal with the Disney-owned ABC is in the pipeline.
Former BBC Radio 1 DJ Tony Blackburn won last weekend's UK version of the show, beating "it" girl Tara Palmer Tompkinson to the prize.
The US has already had its taste of faded celebrities embarrassing themselves on TV. 'Celebrity Boxing', a spillover from MTV's animated 'Celebrity Death Match', entertained viewers with the likes of President Clinton-accuser Paula Jones and disgraced ice skater Tonya Harding punching it out.
It gave Fox some of its highest ratings, and success in the US is likely to see UK sister network BSkyB pick up the idea and take it on board -- think 'Celebrity Big Brother' with punches. The show managed to beat out reality TV rival 'Survivor' on CBS.
The show was a one-off special but the success has Fox executives' mouths watering for round two, with another show now looking set to air in May, providing fading stars can be coaxed on screen.
