Granada to follow Carlton in axing digital sales team

LONDON - Granada is reportedly following in the footsteps of Carlton and cutting staff at its online sales team, as it looks at how it will sell digital advertising in the future.

Carlton revealed last week that it will close Carlton Digital Sales at the end of the month, with job losses expected, including that of sales director John de Napoli.

Granada is reported to have cut its online sales team of 10. They were charged with selling advertising on ITV sites including The Premiership and Formula 1 sites.

It has led to speculation that the two companies, which are in the process of merging, will form a united digital sales unit. The advertising industry is concerned that if Granada and Carlton Communications merge, they should be forced to operate two separate sales houses to avoid a monopoly.
