LONDON - The Government has decided not to allow product placement in home-grown programmes in a move which has angered commercial broadcasters.

ITV has long campaigned for a relaxing over the rules on product placement. The broadcaster, which reported losses of £2.7bn last week, has said it will fight the decision.

Culture minister Andy Burnham said the Government had examined the idea of introducing branded products on screeen but had decided to keep its current ban in place.
