Google wins five Digital Craft Lions but Grand Prix goes to 84.Paris

Google is one of the big winners at Cannes tonight after taking home five Digital Craft lions.

The tech giant’s New York office won two gold Lions for , its project to make music more accessible with a collection of experiments via its Chrome browser.

Google Mountain View and 72andSunny Playa Vista also won two Silver Lions for a Lightsaber Escape game inspired by the movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Google London was one of four UK entries which won bronze Lions for Digital Craft tonight, with the UK office winning for "Step on stage with the performing arts" (above), a virtual exhibition which allows people to experience dance, drama and opera online with a 360-degree view.

AKQA London also won bronze for "Nike Rise" for Nike Basketball, which recruited stars such as Kobe Bryant and LeBron James to coach 30 Chinese players from a nationwide search.

Cheil UK picked up a bronze gong for "RE:Shakespeare", its app to aid 11- to 18-year-olds study Shakespeare with interactive games and videos hosted by actor David Tennant. 

And OgilvyOne was awarded bronze for creating Volvo’s "Roam delivery", a way of delivering food to cars no matter where they are.

The Grand Prix was won by 84.Paris’ interactive music experience created for the tenth anniversary of independent music label Because Music. "Because Recollection" brought the label’s history to life through a showcase of cover artworks and records.
