The company has emailed a number of advertisers to invite them to try the ads which it said "feature product specific information directly in the ad such as price and product image".
A Google spokeswoman said the initiative is a test and the ads will only be visible to a small number of US users.
The business model for the test is that advertisers will pay only when a user makes a purchase and advertisers set the level of commission they are willing to pay.
The venture follows the launch of Microsoft's new search engine Bing, which offers more product and pricing information than Google's standard searches.
