Google promises YouTube products

Google chief executive Eric Schmidt has revealed that the company plans to launch several new YouTube products later this year.

Google has not disclosed the amount of revenue generated to date via advertising around the video-sharing site, which it acquired for $1.65bn (£834m) in October 2006. It has struck numerous partnerships with third-party content providers and advertisers aimed at monetising YouTube's vast online audience.

Schmidt said: "We believe the best products are coming out this year. And they're new products. They're not announced. They're not just putting in-line ads in the things that people are trying."
