GMG Radio expands its UK operations

MANCHESTER - GMG Radio Sales has expanded into four cities across the UK, setting up offices in Glasgow, Newcastle, Leeds and Birmingham, following the group's rapid growth from six to 11 stations in the past six months.

The 14-strong team, led by head of agency sales, Helen Walledge, has doubled in recent months.

The division's head office remains in Manchester, but agency planner Faye McCreton and account manager Rob Fisher will provide an all-inclusive service to North East England agencies, while Lin Cherrington has joined the Glasgow team to sell the new Smooth Radio UK network to Scottish agencies.

Nick Baldwin is based within Real Radio in Yorkshire, serving agencies in that region. Helen Davis, based in Birmingham, joins the company as agency planner, while Ruth Melhuish has joined the company in Manchester as integrated media account manager.

According to the latest Rajar figures, the recent acquisitions of Century FM and Saga Radio mean GMG Radio's portfolio of analogue stations now has the potential to reach 62% of the UK population.
