Glover to take over Saturday morning Radio 4 slot

LONDON - Fi Glover, presenter of BBC Radio 4's Sunday morning 'Broadcasting House' current affairs programme, is set to take over the station's Saturday morning show, formerly occupied by John Peel's 'Home Truths'.

She will front a one-hour programme between 9am-10am after the 'Today' programme, replacing the two 30-minute segments currently occupied by Gyles Brandreth's 'Sound Advice' and Arthur Smith's 'Sentimental Journey.'

Peel's 'Home Truths' programme was eventually axed in June this year after an eight-year run. A host of guest presenters, including Paul Heiney, Linda Smith and Tom Robinson, failed to match Peel's popularity and the decision was made to decommission the show.

Matthew Bannister has been standing in for Glover during her maternity leave from 'Broadcasting House', but there are currently no details whether he is likely to take over from her when her new show begins next month.

Glover began her BBC career as a reporter on various local radio stations, including BBC Northampton and GLR, before joining Radio Five Live in 1997, where she was made news and political reporter.

She left after seven years to travel and write a book, 'I'm an Oil Tanker: Travels with My Radio', and has occasionally stood in for Jeremy Vine on his lunchtime Radio 2 show.
