
Adrian van Klaveren, controller of BBC Radio 5 Live, becomes deputy chairman of The Radio Academy with immediate effect, replacing Tabor who also takes his new role today.
The Radio Academy has also appointed Ben Cooper, deputy controller of BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra, and Chris Burns, BBC group manager for audio and music, as trustees.
In other changes to the board Jo Woods, finance director, Audio & Music, BBC, has stepped down as treasurer, and Andy Parfit, controller of Radio 1, 1Xtra, Popular Music and Asian Network has stepped down as a trustee.
Tabor said: "I am delighted to be leading the Radio Academy – the only entity where the entire UK radio industry comes together – through the next phase of its development.
"The focus will be rejuvenating and refreshing the Sony Radio Awards and building on last year’s upgrade of the Academy’s Radio Festival. I look forward to working with the team to achieve these goals, and it’s great to be working with John Myers on this strategy."
Myers, the former chief executive of GMG Radio, was appointed as chief executive of The Radio Academy in November last year. He took up his new role in April.

The Sony Radio Academy Awards, the biggest awards night in the radio industry’s calendar, will see a number of changes next year when they are produced by The Radio Academy, rather than Alan Zafer & Associates, for the first time.
