Organised by agencies Smyle, Positive Impact, Sustainable Events and Rachey Ley Consultancy, the event is taking place in the autumn.

Companies that will be shaping the future direction of GSES are executive partners including Banks Sadler, The Fresh Group and Showslice. These are joined by ExCel London, DRP, Fisher Productions and the Smart Group, who are supporting the project as research partners. All of these companies will play a major role shaping the research project, which forms the first part of the GSES programme this year.

Supporters of the live summit, which will be the platform for the launch of the research findings, include Camm & Hooper, Crowdcomms, Melia Hotels International and the NEC.

The new research-led approach for 2016 will provide the focus of the exclusive content for this autumn’s summit. Conducted by not-for-profit, sustainability expert Positive Impact and using a mix of in-depth interviews and short Q&A sessions, the research is targeting more than 100 global brands across all the main industry sectors. Its aim is to gain a greater insight into event professionals' understanding of sustainability.

At the conclusion of the first meeting of executive and research partners held in London on 9 August, Smyle Group managing director Rick Stainton said: "We are absolutely delighted that so many key organisations have already come on board this year to support GSES, and I would like to thank them for their very valued time and input into our first research planning meeting.

"As a result, our research findings will come from a relevant foundation created by representatives from across the different live event sectors, providing an insight into how sustainability can be used to enhance an event experience.

Mark Scales, head of event solutions at Banks Sadler, added: "We’re thrilled to be partnering with the Global Sustainable Events Summit. Having the vision to drive a more CSR-focused events industry is incredibly impressive, and one which Banks Sadler feels very passionate about. We are looking forward to working together to help drive this genuine change in the marketplace."
