The networked show, formerly called Hit 40 UK, will broadcast live every Sunday from 14 June and will reach 2.1 million listeners, according to the last Rajar figures.
The Big Top 40 Show will be broadcast via 142 stations, the largest number of commercial stations of any radio show in the UK, including Global's Heart and Galaxy networks, Global's Hit Music Network, including 95.8 Capital FM, Bauer Media's Big City Network and GMG Radio's Real network.
Richard Park, director of broadcasting at Global Radio, said that as 90% of sales in the UK's official chart are from downloads, it is key that The Big Top 40 Show reflects consumers' preference for purchasing music in this manner.
The programme will be hosted by Rich Clarke and Kat Shoob, and will feature music news, artist recommendations and interviews.
The chart will be made up from airplay and download sales, with the top 10 being driven by the live iTunes chart.
