Tabor, Global Radio founder and group chief executive, is in talks with smaller radio owners about rolling Heart out on their stations.

Any move would mark a further expansion of the Heart brand. Last month it was announced that a 12 further stations, which were formerly part of GCap's One Network of local radio stations, were to rebrand to Heart – adding to the nine that were rebranded earlier in January.

He said: "Lots of people are asking if we will pursue changing other stations that aren¹t in our portfolio. It¹s something we¹re considering. If you have stations and like the product and it¹s not in the areas we cover, then we wouldn¹t rule it out.² Tabor is believed to be approaching station owners in areas of the UK where Global is light in coverage.

He has not ruled out going abroad with the Heart brand, saying: "You have to understand the market you¹re going into. If we were to go into any other market abroad, I'd have to immerse myself in it. If you don¹t have an instinct for it, you¹re in trouble. I haven¹t ruled out taking it elsewhere. It¹s a really strong brand."
